Springfield Bonsai Society (IL)

Resource for Bonsai Activity in Central Illinois Area

Welcome

Springfield Bonsai Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a forum for promoting and sustaining Bonsai knowledge in the Central Illinois area.  This is accomplished with a monthly newsletter, a monthly meeting and occasional workshops.  We also host a Bonsai Show and Auction every year.

SBS meetings are held at 7:00 pm on the second Monday of the month, February through November, at the Washington Park Botanical Garden, 1740 W. Fayette, Springfield, IL 62704 [located near the corner of Fayette and Chatham Rd., next to the Carillon], unless otherwise noted in the Calendar of Events. All events are open to the public.  You can park in the front (by the Carillon) or the back (by the service entrance).

Next Meeting:  Monday, February 8, 7pm WPBG

There will be no meeting in January.  I guess it's too cold to do anything but keep your bonsai in hibernation.  Believe it or not, even tropical bonsai like to take rest in winter.

The first meeting of 2010 will be held on February 8th.  I know its none too warm in Feb either!  Its a good time to re-introduce yourself to the club and enjoy some bonsai slide shows, video instructions on bonsai and of course some dessert and coffee!

You are welcome to bring a tree to style / ask questions as all our meetings are based on the "See One, Do One, Teach One" principle!  If you own a greenhouse we would like to know how your trees are coming along.

Again we would like to extend a big THANK YOU!! to all the volunteers and attendees who helped make the 2009 events a great success.
